During the ritual tawaf (seven time circumambulation) of the Ka‘bah, pilgrims are encouraged to recite a specific prayer, which is calligraphed on this scroll. The prayer should be recited whist walking between the Yemeni corner and the Black Stone, set in the eastern side of the Ka‘bah and is from surah al-Baqarah, II, part of verse 201 The Yemeni corner of the Ka‘bah faces approximately south and towards Yemen and was given special importance by the Prophet.
