Sitarah for Bab Jibril in the Prophet’s Mosque at Medina on Collections Sphere from
The inscription inside the garland at the top of the sitarah states that it was made for Bab Jibril (‘Gate of Gabriel’ – one of the doors in the eastern wall of the Prophet’s mosque). Below it are verses 193–5 from surah al-Shu‘ara’, XXVI, ‘The Trustworthy Spirit has brought it [the Qur’an] down/ upon your heart [O! Muhammad], that you may be of the warners/ in a clear Arabic language.’
