The view of the courtyard of the Meccan sanctuary with the Ka‘bah and small structures around it (most of the latter no longer exist) is surrounded by Qur’anic surahs written in the micro style known as ghubar (‘dust’). Above and below the view, and reserved against the ghubar inscriptions, are surah al-Baqarah, II, verses 198 –200. Also from surah al-Baqarah are verses 149–152, written in a black square Kufic in the inner border, and verses 127–129 in a ghubar-filled thulth in the outer border.
