A second mahmal left Damascus for the Hijaz, with the caravan of Syrian and Turkish pilgrims. The Damascus Mahmal is similar to the Egyptian Mahal but is of a slightly different shape and size. No textiles for the Ka‘bah were sent from Damascus.
