    A copper medallion issued by the Government of Italian Somalia, for use as a passport for pilgrims going to Mecca. Each medallion had a number in which information about the pilgrim was registered. Pilgrims had to wear these throughout the journey, and hand it back to officials upon their return from Mecca. Obverse: Governo della Somalia Italiana, around crest with shield bearing cross. Reverse: Pelegrinaggio alla Mecca, around the number ‘138’.
